Many vets in Canada have never heard of corns, at least on dogs, and will not recognize them when they see them. To avoid having your greyhound go through unecessary tests, diagnostic procedures, and even surgery, please do familiarize yourself with them. Check your greyhound's feet carefully if you see him or her favoring a foot, especially on the pavement. We do have a copy of this article in PDF format, and we're happy to pass it on to you if you need it for yourself or your vet, just PM or email us. There is a new glutathione cream that's being compounded one jar at a time down in the states that is working for some. The thread on Greytalk with the contact info to get this cream is here: Corn Thread

An SSGG member has informed us that several of the vets at the Mt Pleasant-Davisville Veterinary Hospital have learned how to hull out corns - this is very good news! Website: www.ovg.ca/mpdvh.aspx

My vet, Dr. Julie Boutin of Ostrander Veterinary Clinic, does a wonderful job of hulling corns! Looks exactly like the photos above and she allows me to be with them when the hulling is done.

It would be worth the drive to Tillsonburg for the hulling - both Julie and Karla are the closest thing we have to greyhound savvy vets in Ontario, as they take care of all the dogs coming through the GRA.
There have been some new products developed in the past few years, but success is still hit and miss. I suspect because the root causes of corns may not all be known.
There is a homeopathic treatment that has worked for some but did not work for us.
There is Jack's Gel.
There is Murray Avenue corn cream.
Information on most of these can be found on Facebook in the group: Greyhounds with Corns.
